FAITH HOUSE Manhattan

I just read, for the first time about “Faith House Manhattan” in New York. It is truly amazing to see someone in the Adventist community engage in a conversation with people of other faiths. To see someone care about more than just prophecy is refreshing to say the least.

I wonder what Faith House thinks about the SDA Global Mission centers around the world. I’ve always percieved the centers to be places where SDA’s can learn to talk in the theological “language” of other religions in order to evangelize and convert, rather than to foster inter-religious dialogue. Maybe they’re trying to do both? I don’t know. But I do think that Samir has a really cool project in his hands.

Just yesterday for the first time, I heard Samir speak about the Manhatten Project vision and am so excited about the “new thing” it seems that God is doing. I am so thankful that He meets us at the point of our need whatever the culture or time. I’m also thankful that He is infinitely greater than any and all of our preconceptions of who He is. Of this I am sure, He is calling all of us to love one another from the servant posture of Jesus. Hence, “My command is this; Love each other as I have loved you.”
    John 15:12

Nice to hear about the “Faith House Manhattan” project for the first time too Pr. Dave.
Hei, I am all for these kind of discussions too…
And as a Religious major, I am always a bit concerned about some of the discussion that are always hidden in the academic “Buble” world and not discussed in the church level…for obvious reasons and criticism and so on…
As I said I am up for discussions…maybe we could even start some of them right here…(Hei, WE CAN START CHANGING THIS WORLD, right here) how’s that… our won “Faith House Manhattan” in EL Centro…using this very same blog.
There are some problems though, pr Dave.
positive criticism is hard….especially when discussing other’s beliefs …
I personally would like to know what you mean by “To see someone care about more than just prophecy is refreshing to say the least.” …
You see, prophecy is the back bone of our SDA beliefs, and as part of it, we believe that these beliefs can change the world and the understanding of the Bible and Christ…
the problem is that Prophecy is being used as the ONLY way to discuss religion, and we are are so proud about it (WE HAVE THE ONLY TRUTH) it has become hard to talk to others, understand them, etc…
maybe Evangelists and the “present truth” preachers have chosen what they think to be the right thing to do….as when others are more interested in find positive ways to interact and discuss others religions…
    anyway
    Great discussions immersing here…
    Blessings
    Pr Dave

  4. Gilbert, I think “Faith House Manhattan is amazing. It begins the discussion and acknowledgment that God is for everyone, and whether we are Christian (SDA) or not God can be experienced. I think it is a great way to learn from each other. I have a few questions myself as to how this will work, but my prayers and support are behind Samir and “Faith House”. I wish we could have a type of “Faith House” in El Centro and I pray that this blog begins a conversation.

About prophecy and Adventism, I understand where you are coming from. The Adventist movement began as a prophetic movement because the pioneers believed that they would see the return of Jesus. But I think now in the 21st century Adventist church I have observed (my observation alone and not for eveyone)prophecy along with church doctrine has in a way replaced genuine faith. I think that when we look to far in the future for “heaven”(of the result of prophecy) then we miss out on our responsibility of what we are called to do in our life times. LIke life in community living in expectation of Christ and in doing so, we learn to live together and be the hope for those that are in need.

I have appreciated our conversation over the last year and hope to continue this over the summer. Enjoy Brazil.

I have just seen the “faith house” website. It is very concerning for the following reasons

It seems that pastor Samir is creating a new church that is largely ecumenical

It seems that this church has not only rejected the spirit of prophecy but also the bible as the only sure word of God.

It seems from a careful reading of his writings that faith house fosters trust in human beings rather than God alone.

It seems that faith house may have pantheistic theological beginnings from a careful reading of the introduction.

It seems Christ becomes a byword and Christianity or Seventh-day Adventism is only one of many justified and true religions that include idol worshiping faiths.

Of everything placed on the site there is not one verse from the bible but many from Rumi and other writers. This is of much concern.

The Adventist message is the three Angels message which is a warning to the world of the immenant return of Christ. This doesn’t seem to be the focus of faith house at all.

There are many more problems, and some that seem downright heretical and luciferian in nature.

I have just seen the “faith house” website. It is very exciting for the following reasons

It seems that pastor Samir is creating a new church that is largely ecumenical like Jesus with Samaritan womc

It seems that this church has not only believed the spirit of prophecy and the bible as the only sure word of God but lived it.

It seems from a careful reading of his writings that faith house fosters trust in Gods love for all human beings rather than Gods love for a small self centred religion alone.

It seems that faith house may have accepted God is real and personal as well as omnipresent from a careful reading of the introduction.

It seems Christ is a Jew and Honored by Islam and Christianity or Seventh-day Adventism and rejects the wall building idol worshiping faith begun by Lucifer.

Of everything placed on the site i see verses from the bible God inspired verses also from Rumi and other writers. This is of much concern that God has been found to be leading all men to Trust and Obey our Master and Lord the One True God –Lucifer is very concerned the character of God may be revealed as in Ex 34:6.

The Adventist message is the three Angels message which is a warning to the world of the immenant return of Christ. This seems to be the total focus of faith house as they are not hearers of the word only but doers -anyone who loves is born of GOD anyone who says they are born of GOD and does not love is a liar and the truth is not in him. Praise God for Samirs Family who do the will of God!!!!!!

There are many more problems found in those who wait in unbelief as the Master cries ARISE SHINE THY LIGHT HAS COME! O LORD ALL THINGS ARE NOW READY SHINE THE LIGHT OF YOUR SALVATION INTO EVERY DARK CORNER IN THOSE UNDER LUCIFERS VEIL, We seem downright heretical and luciferian in nature to those who have not learned to feast on your broken body and drink your blood. Today choose you this day whom ye will serve if God is the LORD serve HIM if baal serve him as for SAMIR and his house he has chosen the LORD I and my house have chosen the LORD SUPREME COMMANDER OF ANGEL ARMIES to serv3e also I command in the NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES through the BLOOD OF THE LAMB AND THE WORD OF GOD the scales be now removed from all the eyes of unbelief and repentance and prayer and sacrifice possess and obssess your heart CHOOSE LIFE THE WAY THED TRUTH IN JESUS NAME AMEN HALLELUJAH
